China Silk Group Co., Ltd. is a central state-owned enterprise supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. Founded in 1946, it is a large enterprise group engaged in multiple business sectors including silk, petrochemicals, new materials, and general trade. The Group has strong comprehensive capabilities and currently owns 26 secondary subsidiaries, holds equity interests in more than 40 domestic enterprises, has established 3 overseas trading offices, and employs over 2,000 people. The predecessor of the Group, China National Silk Import & Export Corporation, was one of the oldest and largest enterprises engaged in silk import and export trade in China, with a history traceable to the China Silk Corporation established in Shanghai by the former National Government. Since its establishment, the company has made tremendous contributions to China’s silk industry and created considerable economic and social benefits. In recent years, while consolidating, adjusting, and upgrading its traditional businesses such as silk and trade, the Group has continuously pursued reform and innovation, expanded proactively, formulated and implemented a new strategy for transformation and development, and rapidly shifted toward industrial operations. Through the construction of the China Silk Northeast Coastal Chemicals Logistics Project, the Group successfully entered the petrochemical sector and is now extending into related segments of the petrochemical industry chain, including R&D, production, and sales of petrochemical products. It has also built a dust-free paper production project in Shanghai with the third-largest production capacity in China, successfully entering the high-tech new materials sector. In 2012, the Group formulated and implemented a new Five-Year Development Plan, establishing the “122155” development strategy for the next five years, and has continued to achieve new accomplishments in business management, reform, and development. At present, the Group has gradually transformed from a specialized foreign trade enterprise into a diversified comprehensive enterprise group covering petrochemicals, new materials, silk, culture, and general trade. The Group’s main businesses include warehousing and transshipment, logistics distribution, and domestic and international trade of petrochemical products; production and sales of dust-free paper new materials; production and domestic and international trade of cocoon silk raw materials and finished garments and apparel; as well as domestic and international trade of other products such as mechanical and electrical products, mineral products, metal materials, light industrial products, agricultural and forestry products, and handicrafts. It also operates businesses including general logistics, overseas consulting and exhibitions, magazine publishing, and advertising.
