Zhejiang Yankon Lighting Electric Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1975. Its predecessor was Shangyu Light Bulb Factory. In 1996, it was transformed into a joint stock company limited. In July 2000, the A-shares of "Zhejiang Yankon" were listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, making it the first private high-tech listed company in China's lighting industry. Zhejiang Yankon Lighting Electric Group Co., Ltd. is a national key high-tech enterprise, a large national enterprise, and one of China's major production and export bases for energy-saving lamps. Zhejiang Yankon Lighting Electric Group has also been listed among the 300 key national enterprises and large enterprise groups receiving key support from Zhejiang Province. It is a national-level contract-abiding and creditworthy enterprise, and the only company that integrates the honors of China Famous Brand, China Well-Known Trademark, China Export Brand, and China Export. The company currently has more than 4,000 employees, including over 1,250 professional and technical personnel of various types, with total assets of RMB 3 billion. Its main products and production scale include: annual production of 300 million integrated electronic lamps, 350 million compact rare-earth energy-saving fluorescent tubes, 12 million sets of T5 straight-tube high-power energy-saving fluorescent lamps and matching fixtures, 20 million T5 tubes, and 200,000 sets of outdoor lamps and LED matching fixtures. It is regarded as a leader in China's lighting appliance industry and one of the country's major production and export bases for energy-saving lamps. The enterprise is a national high-tech enterprise and a key backbone enterprise under Zhejiang Province's "Five Batches" program. In recent years, the company has successively developed more than 20 national- and provincial-level new products, obtained more than 120 national patents, and participated in the drafting and formulation of 17 national standards to date. In 2002, due to the company's achievements in patent application and protection, it was named one of the first "National Patent Pilot Enterprises" by the State Intellectual Property Office. In the same year, with the approval of the Ministry of Personnel, it established an enterprise postdoctoral research workstation. In 2003, the "Yankon" brand compact fluorescent lamp was awarded the title of "China Famous Brand" by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. In 2004, the "Yankon" brand energy-saving lamp was included by the Ministry of Commerce as a key-supported "Export Brand" product, and the research and development of high-quality compact energy-saving fluorescent lamps by the company's technology center won the "Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award." In 2005, the enterprise technology center was recognized as the first nationally certified enterprise technology center in China's lighting industry. In 2006, the "Yankon" trademark was recognized as a "China Well-Known Trademark." In the same year, both "Yankon Brand Fluorescent Lamps" and "Yankon Indoor Lighting Fixtures" were awarded China Famous Brand status. Yankon is one of the earliest enterprises in China to have independent import and export rights. Its products have obtained more than 50 international standard certifications, including UL and FCC in the United States, VDE, CE, GS and TUV in Europe, CSA in Canada, and certifications in the five Nordic countries. It was also among the first in China's electric light source industry to pass ISO9001 quality assurance system certification, ISO14001 environmental management system certification, and national energy-saving certification. In recent years, while expanding its production scale, Yankon has increased its investment in the market and has formed a multi-level marketing system with complete functions and broad coverage. Its market share ranks among the top in the industry. It has built an efficient nationwide sales and service network centered on more than 20 Yankon logistics operation centers across China, with provincial distributors serving as the main marketing network. Its domestic marketing system is sound and it has extensive experience in domestic marketing of its own brands. Yankon has also won bids for national energy-saving lighting product projects many times. Its products not only sell well in the domestic market, but are also exported to Europe, South America, North America, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and other regions. Closely following its strategies of "going global" and "own brands," Yankon actively participates in international cooperation. In 2001, Yankon formed a strong alliance with Philips Lighting and established a joint venture dedicated to the research and development of energy-saving lighting products. In 2002, it established a joint venture and cooperative company with Korea's Bilux Co., Ltd. It has set up sales centers in Europe and the United States, and production bases in Vietnam and India, while focusing on sales of its own brands. By vigorously implementing its "going global" strategy, it has expanded the influence of Yankon's own brands and promoted export business growth.
